Job 42:3-4 “Who is he that hideth counsel without knowledge? therefore have I uttered that I understood not; things too wonderful for me, which I knew not. Hear, I beseech thee, and I will speak: I will demand of thee, and declare thou unto me.”

How do we get answers without first having knowledge?  Admit you don’t know. Ask God for answers and he will give us knowledge about it so we will know and have direction.

But also,

Proverbs 3:5 “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.”

Our own thoughts and understanding can sometime bring doubt and uncertainty into the mind. This causes us to be divided in our interest and indecisive in what we want rather than fully trusting in God and his direction.

As James 1 reminds us,

James 1:5-8 “If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord. A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.”

When you ask for answers, decide in your mind and heart what it is you truly need an answer on.  And be fully ready and willing to trust God for the answer no matter what it may be. No wavering, which means no going back and forth between what you think is the answer and the answers and direction God will provide in time. A double mind does not fully trust God for the answer but thinks it already knows. Fully trust God for wisdom on the matter, no wavering between your thoughts and Gods thoughts.

Because,

Isaiah 55:8 “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD.”

However,

Philippians 4:6 “Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.”

You are where you are at this moment, so be thankful for all that you are and have and worry about nothing.  Yet also let God know what it is you need or want from your heart knowing full well that he will provide in due time all that you need. Trust him with faith that God will provide every time!

But again remember,

Romans 8:24-25 “For we are saved by hope: but hope that is seen is not hope: for what a man seeth, why doth he yet hope for? But if we hope for that we see not, then do we with patience wait for it.”

Be careful to ask for wisdom and direction to gain what you need, and not necessarily a specific outcome you think is best because “Father knows best”, and “your thoughts are not his thoughts”. And when we understand this concept, we wait on direction from the Lord.

Because,

Ephesians 3:20 “Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,”

God works it out according to his power in us when our hearts and minds ask for direction and wisdom from God rather than how we think it needs to turn out.  And God’s way is always better anyway.
