What is the curse spoken of in Genesis Chapter 3? And why would God consider putting a curse on anything?

Exodus 33:20 KJV - And he said, Thou canst not see my face: for there shall no man see me, and live.

1 Timothy 6:15-16 KJV - Which in his times he shall shew, [who is] the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords; Who only hath immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto; whom no man hath seen, nor can see: to whom [be] honour and power everlasting. Amen.

These verses say that no “man” can see God the LORD nor approach unto him and still live or be alive. That which can die (man) cannot approach God and still be. No man can approach upon the “light” of God.
