The Bible has some good reminders in times like this, and for all times…

Be thankful for everything, for all things have a purpose:

• 1 Peter 4:12 Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you: But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ's sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy.

• Thes 5:16 Rejoice evermore. Pray without ceasing. In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.

When your thoughts change from self-pity to understanding that there is a purpose in all things - even the seemly “bad’ things (“i.e. fiery trial) that are happening, the perception of the mind changes and the power of the universe is released to do good. The glory (the brightness of the silver lining) is then revealed. So delight in amazement at the perfect plan set in motion before you, and all that will be seen are good outcomes.

• Psalm 139:23 Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts:

Allow God to search you out and cleanse your heart and mind of all negativity.
