What is the death spoken of here?
Romans 6:7 “For he that is dead is freed from sin.”
1Corinthians 15:36 “Thou fool, that which thou sowest is not quickened except it die:”
What is the difference between physical death and the death spoken of here?
Romans 6:8 “Now if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him.”
Is it that our first born (carnal mind) dies so our true husband (Christ) can live spiritually within? That which we sow (ourselves) dies from within, so that our butterfly can live.
Romans 12:1 “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.”
What does it mean to sacrifice our bodies to God? Is this the death spoken of in 1Corinthians 15 and Romans 6:7?
Romans 6:5 “for if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in resurrection:”
We are planted (sowed) hence to die, and to spring forth new life. No physical death intended.
1Corinthians 15:31, it is a work in progress. It is a daily dying thing.
What are the deaths spoken of here?
Genesis 2:17 ”But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.”
Genesis 3:4 ”And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:”
Two different deaths are spoken of here. In Genesis 2:17 God warns they will surely die, speaking of the death that matters most to him. In Genesis 3:4, the serpent is telling them, you will not “really” (surely) die. They are both right. Some may argue that one of them lied. But it depends on what death is being spoken of. That is one way the two edged sword of the words shows itself (see previous post).
God is not speaking of physical death as we think of it. AFTER Adam ate of the tree of knowledge God created them “coats of skin”. They were given skin (a fleshly covering) in Genesis 3:21. This skin covered (blinded) the spiritual mind that walked with God fully exposed and naked to God while being unashamed. After Adam ate of the tree of knowledge they were changed. This changing is part of the “death” God had warned them of and called it death. The serpent doesn’t recognize this as death. The serpent’s idea of death is when one has a lack of judgment for themselves. The serpent’s idea of life is what God calls death. The serpent thinks the superficial living through the judgment gained by the tree of knowledge is fine and dandy because that is how the serpent lives. Genesis Chapter 3 goes on to explain all the things that Adam’s new life is now because of the tree of knowledge, one being that they could no longer live in the garden and eat of the tree of life. The tree of life, which in God’s eyes is the opposite of true death, is no longer easily available, but the way to it is kept by the flaming sword (see previous posts). So the tree of life, according to Genesis 3:22, which allows them to live forever, is guarded.
If there are two types of death, then God was not lying and technically neither was the serpent because they have two different ideas and explanations of what death truly is. God’s idea of life is being able to walk exposed (naked) and unashamed in his sight. While the serpent doesn’t recognize the lack of this ability as being death itself. But rather the serpent thinks living by the tree of knowledge of good and evil (carnal judgment) allows our own mind to decide how to “live” on its own.
Therefore, life through the tree knowledge of good and evil, IS death, as God sees it. But the serpent sees it simply as not “surely” dying, but that you get to live through your own mind tree, rather than the tree of life. So is life through the serpent really death? So is the death of the tree of knowledge of good and evil really life, in God eyes? Or is putting away the tree of good and evil a start to finding the tree of life? How do we escape the tree of knowledge of good and evil which is engrained into our skin covering (carnal mind)?
